On the bright side....

(NANI Oct. 14) During the SEMICON West conference SEMI released its latest forecast for 12-inch wafer fab equipment spending - projecting global expenditures of $374 billion between 2026 and 2028 reflecting the ongoing wafer fab regionalization and soaring AI chip demand although there is some concern over a potential AI chip market bubble that could reduce demand and slow US fab progress. On the dark side - funding @ the national labs carrying out basic semiconductor research has been paused/rescinded/cancelled depending on which government spokesperson is at attempting to 'explain' the administration's mandates (See link for details).
